This hearty American Goulash (Easy One Pot Recipe) combines ground beef, elbow macaroni, and savory tomato sauce into the ultimate family-friendly comfort meal.
2 pounds ground beef
1 large yellow onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
3 cups water (or two cans beef broth)
2 (15-ounce) cans tomato sauce
2 (14.5-ounce) cans diced tomatoes
2 tbsp dried Italian herb seasoning
1 tbsp seasoned salt
2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess grease.
Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic; sauté until softened.
Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, water or broth, Italian seasoning, and seasoned salt.
Bring to a simmer, then stir in elbow macaroni.
Cover and cook on low, stirring occasionally, for 15–20 minutes or until pasta is tender.
Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
For extra depth, substitute part of the water with beef broth.
You can use crushed tomatoes for a smoother texture.
