This hearty American Goulash (Easy One Pot Recipe) combines ground beef, elbow macaroni, and savory tomato sauce into the ultimate family-friendly comfort meal.

  • 2 pounds ground beef

  • 1 large yellow onion, chopped

  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 3 cups water (or two cans beef broth)

  • 2 (15-ounce) cans tomato sauce

  • 2 (14.5-ounce) cans diced tomatoes

  • 2 tbsp dried Italian herb seasoning

  • 1 tbsp seasoned salt

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked

Instructions

  • In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess grease.

  • Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic; sauté until softened.

  • Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, water or broth, Italian seasoning, and seasoned salt.

  • Bring to a simmer, then stir in elbow macaroni.

  • Cover and cook on low, stirring occasionally, for 15–20 minutes or until pasta is tender.

 

  • Let rest 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra depth, substitute part of the water with beef broth.

 

  • You can use crushed tomatoes for a smoother texture.
