Baked Ziti with Ricotta and Mozzarella is a comforting Italian-American dish that combines pasta, rich tomato sauce, creamy ricotta, and gooey mozzarella for a delicious twist on a classic.

  • 1 pound ziti pasta
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  4. In a baking dish, spread a layer of marinara sauce on the bottom.
  5. Add half of the cooked ziti to the baking dish, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, and then half of the remaining marinara sauce.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining ziti, ricotta mixture, and marinara sauce.
  7. Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese.
  8. Drizzle with olive oil.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes to the marinara sauce.
  • This dish can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
