BBQ pulled pork

BBQ pulled pork is a delicious and flavorful dish made from slow-cooked pork shoulder, shredded and mixed with a tangy barbecue sauce.

  • 4 lbs pork shoulder
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 cup chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the paprika, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.
  4. Place the chopped onion and minced garlic in the bottom of a roasting pan.
  5. Put the pork shoulder on top of the onions and garlic.
  6. Pour the chicken broth around the pork.
  7. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 6-8 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
  9. Remove the pork from the oven and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  10. Shred the pork using two forks and mix it with the BBQ sauce.
  11. Serve on buns or with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the pork shoulder overnight with the spice rub.
  • Feel free to adjust the level of spiciness by adding more or less cayenne pepper.
  • This dish can also be made in a slow cooker on low for 8-10 hours.
