berry basil panna cotta

Berry Basil Panna Cotta is a creamy and refreshing dessert that combines the sweetness of berries with the aromatic flavor of basil.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons gelatin powder
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 cup mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, sprinkle gelatin over cold water and let it bloom for about 5 minutes.
  2. In a saucepan, combine heavy cream, milk, and sugar. Heat over medium heat until sugar dissolves and mixture is hot but not boiling.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the bloomed gelatin until fully dissolved.
  4. Add vanilla extract and chopped basil leaves, stirring to combine.
  5. Pour the mixture into serving glasses and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until set.
  6. Before serving, top with mixed berries and a basil leaf for garnish.

Notes

  • For a vegan version, substitute heavy cream and milk with coconut cream and almond milk.
  • Make sure to strain the mixture if you prefer a smoother panna cotta without basil bits.
  • This dessert can be made a day in advance for convenience.
