Recreate the iconic Buona Beef Tuna Genovese sandwich at home with this easy, flavorful copycat recipe. Made with Italian tuna packed in olive oil, garlic herbs, lemon juice, and fresh red onion, this gourmet-style tuna sandwich delivers bold, Mediterranean-inspired flavor on a crisp, toasted roll.
2 cans Italian-style tuna in olive oil, drained
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
2 tsp red wine vinegar
1 small garlic clove, minced
1 tbsp capers, chopped
2 tbsp red onion, finely chopped
1 tbsp parsley, chopped
1/2 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
1/2 tsp anchovy paste (optional)
Salt and pepper, to taste
4 ciabatta rolls or Italian sandwich bread
Flake the drained tuna in a bowl with a fork.
Add olive oil, lemon juice, and red wine vinegar. Stir gently.
Mix in garlic, capers, red onion, parsley, and optional Dijon mustard and anchovy paste.
Season to taste with salt and pepper.
