Copycat Anthony Bourdain's Beef Bourguignon

A delicious and hearty beef bourguignon recipe inspired by Anthony Bourdain’s famous dish, perfect for a cozy dinner.

  • 2 lbs beef chuck, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 bottle red wine (preferably Burgundy)
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 4 slices bacon, diced
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 bouquet garni (thyme, bay leaf, parsley)
  • 8 oz mushrooms, quartered
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. In a large Dutch oven, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pot, add olive oil and brown the beef cubes on all sides. Remove and set aside.
  4. Add onions, carrots, and garlic to the pot, cooking until softened.
  5. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Add the tomato paste, wine, beef broth, and bouquet garni. Bring to a simmer.
  7. Add the beef and bacon back to the pot, cover, and transfer to the oven.
  8. Bake for 2-3 hours until the beef is tender.
  9. In the last 30 minutes, add the mushrooms.
  10. Remove the bouquet garni before serving. Enjoy!

  • Serve with crusty bread or over mashed potatoes.
