This crispy air fryer apple fries recipe transforms fresh apple slices into a golden brown snack with a sweet cinnamon sugar coating. Healthier than traditional frying, this air fried treat brings out warm apple pie flavors using simple ingredients and an air fryer. Perfect for dipping in caramel sauce or yogurt.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large apples (Granny Smith or Pink Lady)

  • 65 grams all-purpose flour

  • 2 large eggs, beaten

  • 60 grams panko breadcrumbs or regular breadcrumbs

  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

  • Cooking spray

Dipping Sauce Options:

  • 120 ml caramel sauce (optional)

  • 120 grams vanilla yogurt (optional)

Instructions

  • Peel apples if desired, cut into 1.25 cm wedges, and remove cores.

  • Mix cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl.

  • Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with half the cinnamon sugar mixture.

  • Coat each apple wedge in flour (shake off excess flour), then egg, then the breadcrumb mixture.

  • Preheat the air fryer to 190°C for 3 minutes.

  • Arrange coated apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Lightly spray with cooking spray.

  • Air fry for 8–10 minutes, turning once, until golden brown.

  • Sprinkle remaining cinnamon sugar over the hot fries and serve with dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Work in batches if needed to avoid crowding the air fryer basket.

  • Best served immediately after cooking for maximum crispness.
