Ingredients

  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Coarse salt (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Mix warm water, yeast, and sugar in a bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and melted butter. Knead until dough is smooth.
  3. Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
  5. Divide dough into small pieces and roll into balls.
  6. Boil water and baking soda in a pot. Dip dough balls for 30 seconds.
  7. Place pretzel bites on a baking sheet. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle salt.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
