Gold Leaf Chocolate Cake with Raspberry

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries
  • Edible gold leaf sheets

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans.
  3. Mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  4. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat for 2 minutes.
  5. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin).
  6. Pour into pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  7. Cool cakes for 10 minutes before removing from pans.
  8. Frost with chocolate ganache.
  9. Arrange raspberries on top.
  10. Carefully apply gold leaf sheets for decoration.

Notes

  • Use room temperature eggs for better mixing.
  • Let cakes cool completely before frosting.
  • Handle gold leaf with a brush or tweezers.
