These Ham and Cheese Butter Biscuits are fluffy, cheesy, and packed with savory ham perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a satisfying snack. With simple pantry staples and leftover ham, they come together quickly and deliver big on comfort and flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (preferably unbleached)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (sharp or white)
  • 1 cup finely diced ham
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Cut in cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in cheddar cheese and diced ham.
  5. Pour in the buttermilk and gently stir until just combined—do not overmix.
  6. Turn out dough onto a floured surface and gently pat into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Fold once or twice to layer.
  7. Cut out biscuits using a 2.5-inch round cutter and place on the baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Brush warm biscuits with melted butter before serving.

Notes

  • Don’t overwork the dough—this keeps the biscuits light and fluffy.
  • Leftover ham or thick-cut deli ham works great.
  • Best served warm, but also delicious at room temperature
