  • 1 lb breakfast sausage
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 6 cups cubed bread
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh sage
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 eggs, beaten

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook sausage in a skillet until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté onion, celery, and garlic until soft.
  4. Combine bread, sausage, vegetables, and herbs in a large bowl.
  5. Mix broth and eggs, then pour over bread mixture. Stir to combine.
  6. Transfer to a greased baking dish.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

  • Use day-old bread for best texture.
  • Can be made ahead and refrigerated overnight.
