Meat Lasagna

A delicious and hearty meat lasagna with perfectly layered pasta, rich meat sauce, and creamy cheese.

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat; drain excess fat.
  4. Add garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper to the meat mixture; stir in marinara sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the Parmesan cheese; mix well.
  6. Spread a layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a baking dish.
  7. Layer 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, a layer of mozzarella, and more meat sauce.
  8. Repeat the layers, finishing with noodles, remaining meat sauce, and topping with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

  • For a vegetarian option, substitute meat with vegetables like spinach and mushrooms.
  • Letting the lasagna sit before serving helps the layers set.
  • Can be made ahead and frozen for later use.
