Plant-based smash burger

A delicious and satisfying plant-based smash burger recipe that is easy to make and packed with flavor.

  • 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 whole wheat burger buns
  • Lettuce, tomato, and avocado for toppings

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mash the black beans with a fork until mostly smooth.
  2. Add breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, soy sauce, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Form the mixture into 4 equal patties.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Assemble the burgers on whole wheat buns with lettuce, tomato, and avocado.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add some chopped jalapeños to the mixture.
  • These patties can be made ahead of time and frozen for later use.
