Pumpkin Pasties

Pumpkin pasties are delightful pastry pockets filled with a spiced pumpkin mixture, perfect for fall gatherings and celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package pie crusts (2 crusts)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together the pumpkin puree, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt until well combined.
  3. Roll out the pie crusts and cut them into circles using a cookie cutter or a glass.
  4. Place a spoonful of the pumpkin mixture in the center of each circle.
  5. Fold the crust over to create a half-moon shape and press the edges to seal.
  6. Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For a sweeter filling, add more brown sugar to taste.
  • These can be made ahead of time and frozen before baking.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature.
