Red Wine Braised Beef Bread Bowls

Tender beef slow-cooked in red wine served in bread bowls.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs beef chuck, cubed
  • 2 cups red wine
  • 4 large bread bowls
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a pot over medium heat.
  2. Sear beef cubes until browned on all sides.
  3. Add onions, carrots, and garlic. Cook until softened.
  4. Stir in tomato paste and red wine. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Pour in beef broth and add thyme, salt, and pepper.
  6. Cover and simmer on low heat for 2-3 hours until beef is tender.
  7. Cut tops off bread bowls and hollow them slightly.
  8. Fill bread bowls with braised beef and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use dry red wine for best flavor.
  • Bread bowls can be homemade or store-bought.
  • Leftover beef can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
