  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices of cheese (American or cheddar)
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded

  • Ketchup and mustard, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  2. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and form them into loose balls.
  3. Place the beef balls on the hot skillet and immediately smash them down with a spatula to form patties.
  4. Season the patties with salt and pepper.
  5. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until a crust forms, then flip the patties.
  6. Add a slice of cheese on top of each patty and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts.
  7. Toast the burger buns on the skillet until golden brown.
