  • 2 large potatoes, grated
  • 1 small onion, grated
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 100g smoked salmon, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine grated potatoes, onion, egg, flour, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  3. Drop spoonfuls of the potato mixture into the pan, flattening slightly.
  4. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  5. Transfer to a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  6. Top each latke with smoked salmon and a sprinkle of fresh dill.
  7. Serve warm with sour cream if desired.

Notes

  • Grate potatoes just before cooking to prevent browning.
  • Squeeze excess moisture from grated potatoes for crispier latkes.
  • Use a non-stick pan for easier flipping.
