Spaghetti and Meatballs

A classic Italian-American dish featuring spaghetti served with meatballs in marinara sauce.

Ingredients

  • Spaghetti – 400g
  • Ground beef – 500g
  • Breadcrumbs – 100g
  • Parmesan cheese – 50g, grated
  • Egg – 1
  • Garlic – 2 cloves, minced
  • Onion – 1, finely chopped
  • Marinara sauce – 500ml
  • Olive oil – 2 tablespoons
  • Salt – to taste
  • Pepper – to taste
  • Fresh basil – for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente.
  2. In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  3. Form the mixture into meatballs, about the size of a golf ball.
  4. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat and brown the meatballs on all sides.
  5. Add chopped onion to the pan and sauté until translucent.
  6. Pour in the marinara sauce and let it simmer for 20 minutes.
  7. Serve the meatballs and sauce over the cooked spaghetti.
  8. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • Meatballs can be made ahead and frozen for later use.
  • Use whole wheat spaghetti for a healthier option.
