Stuffed Shells

Stuffed shells are a delicious pasta dish filled with a savory mixture of cheese and herbs, baked in marinara sauce and topped with melted cheese.

  • 12 large pasta shells
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  4. Stuff each pasta shell with the cheese mixture.
  5. Spread half of the marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
  6. Place the stuffed shells in the baking dish and cover with the remaining marinara sauce.
  7. Sprinkle additional mozzarella cheese on top.
  8. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

  • For a vegetarian option, ensure the marinara sauce is meat-free.
  • Feel free to add spinach or other vegetables to the cheese mixture for added nutrition.
  • These can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
