Sugar Free BBQ Pulled Pork

A delicious and healthy twist on traditional BBQ pulled pork, made without added sugars.

  • 3 lbs pork shoulder
  • 1 cup sugar-free BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
  3. Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.
  4. Place the pork shoulder in a roasting pan and pour the chicken broth around it.
  5. Cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake for 4-5 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.
  6. Remove the pork from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  7. Shred the pork using two forks and mix in the sugar-free BBQ sauce.
  8. Serve warm on its own or in a low-carb bun.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the pork shoulder overnight with the spice rub.
  • Adjust the amount of BBQ sauce to your taste preference.
  • This dish can be made in a slow cooker as well.
